The Last Dance: Dennis Rodman, Pistons set to headline episodes 3 and 4
As ESPN’s ‘The Last Dance’ returns Sunday night, Dennis Rodman and the Detroit Pistons are set to star in episodes 3 and 4.
After episodes 1 and 2 of ESPN’s ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, which centers around Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, premiered last week, it just left fans wanting more and more from the filmmakers.
Thankfully, we’re about to get our second (of five) helpings of the experience. While the first two episodes of the documentary focused on Jordan’s collegiate years and his first two seasons in the NBA, and a bit of background information on Scottie Pippen, episodes 3 and 4 will reportedly spend some time featuring Dennis Rodman and the Detroit Pistons.
Rodman, who played with the Bulls for the second three-peat, was one of the most polarizing players in the 1990s. Known as a free spirit, there are plenty of different avenues that the filmmakers could’ve taken with respect to Rodman, and I, for one, am excited to see the final product on how they paint him out to be.
Then, there’s the whole Bad Boy Pistons angle. The Pistons were Jordan’s Achilles heel before he eventually beat them in the playoffs en route to his first NBA championship with the Bulls. In fact, Jordan and the Bulls lost to the Pistons in three consecutive seasons in the playoffs before overcoming them during the 1990-91 campaign.
Jordan somewhat had to rebuild himself after falling short time and time again at the hands of the Pistons. The stories surrounding those three years from both the perspective of the Pistons and Bulls (specifically Jordan) will be fascinating in retrospect.
