Summary: The Philadelphia 76ers just seemed off all season which leads me to believe Brett Brown may be on his way out and who better to take over than Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright. In addition to adding Wright, Philadelphia shakes things up a bit by committing to building around Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
Al Horford didn’t seem like a smooth fit with their roster construction and while losing Horford and Richardson may be a talent downgrade, removing Horford’s long-term money from their books should help maintain better flexibility. Also, Derrick Rose and Tony Snell aren’t just cap-saving moves but should fit well if the goal is to maximize Simmons and Embiid.
Alec Burks played well in his time there and they allow themselves to use the full non-taxpayer MLE on him by the immediate savings generated from the trade. They will have plenty of options to throw at opponents from the wing position and have some solid playmakers and shooters surrounding their core guys.
