Summary: The Phoenix Suns trade their first-round draft pick for a better fit than Dario Saric who departs in free agency. They add a stretch four with Lauri Markkanen and he hopes is Markkanen spreads the floor enough for DeAndre Ayton to perform at his peak in the post. While they don’t make any big splashes in free agency, most of their cap space is used for veteran depth off the bench including a trade where they add some picks in the process for taking on Ivica Zubac.

Free-agent point guard D.J. Augustin brings a steady hand in running the offense when Rubio is off the floor. Wayne Ellington is a solid shooter at guard. Overall, the Suns come out of this offseason two-deep at every position without having to trade their wing depth.

The Suns keep Cam Johnson, Kelly Oubre, and Mikal Bridges with the hope being their improved depth and hopefully healthy 2020-21 season will allow them to sneak into the playoffs under what started out successfully under Monty Williams last year.
