Summary: The Brooklyn Nets signed up for being a luxury tax team once they signed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last summer. Their window to win is now and they go all in by trading Jrue Holiday who could help cover for Kyrie Irving’s lack of defense on the perimeter while also providing another offensive option to keep opposing defense’s honest.
There should be a market for Joe Harris this summer and keeping him won’t be cheap, but his ability to spread the floor will open things up for their new Big 3. They take a flier on Willie Cauley-Stein who always seems like he should be better than he is so maybe this is the spot where he becomes a more useful rotation player than he had shown in the past. Wilson Chandler is a solid veteran to bring back as well.
Pending the health of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined with how long it takes them to shake off the rust and perfect playing off each other, the Nets will have a real shot at getting to the NBA Finals. The ceiling here is incredible between their co-star’s championship experience and if their lesser parts can step up (Dinwiddie, Harris, Prince, Jordan, etc.) then we have the makings of a special year for the Nets.
