13. Indiana Pacers – Ty Lawson, North Carolina
With the 13th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select Ty Lawson.
Ty Lawson is a bit of an interesting one. He was a borderline All-Star for a period of time during his stint in Denver. In fact, he even received an MVP vote in 2013. Then, the Nuggets traded him to Houston in the summer of 2015, and he seemingly could not find a rhythm again in the NBA.
For his career, Lawson averaged 12.7 points, six assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game, while posting 46-36-77 shooting splits and a PER of 17.2. From 2011-15, Lawson averaged 16.4 points, eight assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 45-36-77 and posting an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.1. Those are All-Star level numbers.
During that four-year run, Lawson had some monster games, including a game where he made his first 10 3-point attempts in a 37-point effort against the Timberwolves. It makes you wonder what would have happened if Denver had not traded Lawson, and instead had given him the keys to the offense.
