8. New York Knicks – Patrick Beverley, Arkansas

With the 8th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks select Patrick Beverley.

Patrick Beverley is another interesting one here because although he was drafted in 2009, he did not play his first NBA game until the 2012-13 season after a stint overseas. And he didn’t really get a lot of floor time until the next season in 2013-14. But since then Beverley has been terrific.

Beverley’s career numbers are 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 41-38-76 shooting splits and a 12.5 PER. But Beverley’s game is about much more than what shows up on the stat sheet. Pat Bev is a guy who loves doing the dirty work and will do whatever it takes to win.

Pat Beverley is a world-class pest. He prides himself on his defense and his innate ability to get under other players’ skin and disrupt their game. He is one of the best, if not the best guard defender in the league right now. And while his defense and trash-talking are what he is known for, Pat Bev isn’t afraid to take the big shot if his number is called. He shoots the 3 at a high clip on more than four attempts per game.

All these reasons put together are what makes Pat Beverley a very good basketball player, and in the class of 2009 redraft, he goes 8th to the Knicks.
