14. Miami Heat – Markelle Fultz
The former No. 1 overall pick and hardest evaluation in this redraft finally sneaks in at the very end of the lottery.
It seems like a decade ago that Fultz was shooting 41 percent from 3 in college, but people forget that he was highly regarded shooting prospect coming into the league. But with the injuries he’s suffered to his shoulder, it wouldn’t be fair to expect him to ever be that kind of shooter again.
Despite those issues, he’s shown improvement and looks more comfortable shooting the ball than he ever has in the NBA. If he can develop something that’s just relatively close to an effective jumper, he’ll be a problem for opposing defenses.
His athleticism and ability to finish haven’t gone anywhere, and I think he has the potential to be a really strong defender once he finally settles into a role in the league.
It’s a high risk, high reward pick for the Miami Heat, but it seems like they always find a way to bring the best out of their players – why couldn’t they do the same for Fultz?
