5. Phoenix Suns

Best finish: NBA finalist (two times)

Iconic player(s): Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, Steve Nash, Amar’e Stoudemire

Championship outlook: Poor

At various points in their existence, the Phoenix Suns have been one of the most exciting teams in the NBA. At one point when Charles Barkley was at the height of his powers and then when Steve Nash, Amar’e Stoudemire, Mike D’Antoni took the NBA by storm. Unfortunately, neither situation resulted in a championship.

At the moment, the Suns aren’t close to winning a championship either. Although, they have a solid young piece in Devin Booker. If he continues to develop at the pace that he’s been to start his career, he’s going to be a certified superstar in no time. Now, the Suns must build around him to take the team to the next level.

It’s been nine years (10 counting the 2019-20 season) since the Suns last made the playoffs, but there is at least some hope in sight.
