Taking a closer look at five NBA teams that will improve the most from the 2019-20 season to the 2020-21 campaign.

Even though there’s a chance that the 2019-20 NBA season may not be completed, that doesn’t mean there weren’t many storylines that will be remembered from this campaign. The hope is that we will eventually have a champion for the season, but even without one, this year will be remembered for many years to come.

For one, it marked the end of the beginning of a new era. The summer of 2020 marked the end of the super team era (for now) and helped usher in a more traditional dynamic duo era. Many believed it would bring more parity around the league, and we did see some of that this season. In the West, the two Los Angeles teams stole the headlines but there were more than a few teams that will/could’ve pushed them in a seven-game playoffs series – and we still might see that.

Out East, we saw a number of teams not named the Milwaukee Bucks emerge as a potential future contender. Even the defending champion Toronto Raptors were one of the biggest surprises as they separated themselves as the second-best team in the East for much of the season.

Which teams will be the surprise of 2020-21? We explore five teams that will improve the most from this past season to the start of the next one.
