9. Washington Wizards – RJ Hampton, G, NZ Breakers

Despite the expected return of John Wall, it wouldn’t be all that surprising for the Washington Wizards to want to protect their future and address the backcourt in the event that he doesn’t return to 100 percent after his Achilles injury. Taking a chance on a high ceiling player like RJ Hampton at this point in the draft makes a ton of sense.

Hampton has all the tools to be a great two-way player and has proven to have great natural instincts as an offensive player. He can play both guard positions and would fit seamlessly next to both Wall and Bradley Beal. Adding Hampton to the backcourt of Beal and Wall would help create one of the most talented trios in the Eastern Conference.

If Hampton played an entire season in college, you could make the argument that he would be a much higher pick. Although considering there isn’t much tape to judge Hampton on, it’s likely many teams will shy away from taking him in the top 10.
