30. Boston Celtics (via Milwaukee) – Precious Achiuwa, F, Memphis
Making their third and final pick in the first round, I believe Precious Achiuwa could potentially be a steal at this point in the draft. Even though there are real questions about his game and potential at the next level, he’s arguably the best overall defender in this draft class. If there’s one thing that often translates from college to the NBA, it’s traits on the defensive end.
Achiuwa is still a raw prospect on the offensive end, but he still managed to average 16 points on 49 percent shooting from the field. As one of the oldest players in this draft, Achiuwa will be 21 years old by the time the 2020-21 season begins. That, as you’d expect, will turn off many teams.
Achiuwa is an interesting prospect that may or may not hit, but at this point in the draft is worth taking a flier one. Especially if you have three first-round picks.
Precious Achiuwa would also be a good fit in Brad Stevens’ system and could potentially be hidden if his offensive skills don’t translate right away.
