7. Detroit Pistons – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa
With the No. 7 pick, the Detroit Pistons will likely be in the market for a player that could help initiate offense and take some of the pressure off Blake Griffin (assuming the team elects to not trade him). With Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball off the board, Tyrese Haliburton wouldn’t be a terrible consolation prize.
Haliburton is coming off a season in which he averaged 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds after making a big jump from his freshman to his sophomore season at Iowa. He has good size and could end up being the best player to come out of this draft. The talent and potential are very much present.
Haliburton would be a great pick for the Pistons if he falls to them at No. 7. With that said, there’s a great chance that Haliburton doesn’t make it to pick No. 7. With pre-draft workouts, he could rise up draft boards in weeks leading up to the 2020 NBA Draft.
