Scottie embraced Jordan’s retirement

Just as you’d expect every competitor to respond, it’s almost as if Scottie Pippen embraced the role when Michael Jordan retired. Scottie was finally going to get his time to shine and was going to get the shot at winning the championship without the greatest player in the world.

Led by Pippen, the Bulls played a much more team-oriented game without Michael and actually made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals. You can actually make the case that the Bulls probably should’ve made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

They lost to the New York Knicks in Game 7, unfortunately. You can’t help but wonder what impact Scottie refusing to enter Game 3 against the Knicks in that second round had on the rest of the team in the long run.

During the lone season without Michael, Pippen averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals per game on 49 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent shooting from 3-point range.
