4. Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
With John Wall injured, Bradley Beal has shown out for the Washington Wizards, emerging as one of the most lethal scorers in the league. He’s the only player besides James Harden to drop over 30 points per night (30.5 PPG), almost 10 points more than his career average. Yet, despite his outstanding campaign, Beal was snubbed of an All-Star appearance in February.
If Wall was healthy, Washington would be in a playoff spot in the East given Beal’s ridiculous season. He ‘s started all 57 contests this year and been about the only bright spot for the Wizards.
Given Wall’s absence, Beal’s usage rate has shot up to 34 percent, much higher than any other season. But he’s welcomed the challenge of leading this team with open arms, posting historic numbers. Beal is attempting more shots than any other season and his 58 percent true shooting percentage speaks to his efficiency from two-pointers, free throws, and 3’s.
He has been a very consistent player over the years, but this season Beal has been on another level. It’s doubtful that he is one of the top 15 players in the NBA over the last five seasons based on statistics, but if we’re looking at 2019-20, Beal is deserving of the fourth spot.
