Finding a gem in the NBA Draft/free agency

Finally, there is one last move that the Knicks would need to make in order to jump into the top 8 of the Eastern Conference next season. And that would mean either finding a hidden gem in free agency or drafting one of the most NBA-ready players in the draft in the top 10.

A few potential picks for the Knicks outside the top 5 (they’re currently projected to pick at No. 6) are Isaac Okoro, Obi Toppin, Tyrese Haliburton, or Cole Anthony. Even though two of those are point guards, Paul would help make their transition easier – similar to the role that he played with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in OKC.

The amount that they would learn from Paul would be invaluable. At the same rate, they could find a discounted gem in free agency. Especially in an offseason filled with uncertainty, the Knicks could target a super-role player to help bring some stability to their starting 5 or bench as they attempt to bring support to their young players.

The New York Knicks are somewhat of an unknown heading into next season, and much of that has to do with the development of the team’s young prospects, but there is a path to the playoffs for the team in 2020-21. Question is, will they make the right moves in the offseason to ensure that during the season?
