San Antonio Spurs

Biggest need: Athletic size

Players to target: Isaac Okoro, Saddiq Bey, Precious Achiuwa

It doesn’t feel right to be projecting lottery picks for the San Antonio Spurs. They’ve made the playoffs 22 straight seasons, which means there are kids graduating college this year that weren’t alive the last time the Spurs missed a postseason. We may never see that kind of prolonged success again.

But all good things eventually come to an end, and the Spurs dynasty was no exception. Now they’re seeing how the other half lives in the lottery, and have plenty of holes to address this offseason if they want to get back into the playoffs.

Perhaps the most glaring need is the one for a versatile forward who can fit in with their young, athletic backcourt. DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge will both be on expiring deals next year and I think this offseason we’ll start to a shift in their strategy from one that revolves around the veterans to one that tries to surround the young players with complimentary pieces.
