Detroit Pistons

Biggest need: Best player available

Players to target: LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, Killian Hayes

There isn’t a team in the NBA that needs to win the lottery within the next couple of years more than the Detroit Pistons do. Derrick Rose‘s career is nearing the end, Blake Griffin has only registered 1 season in the past 4 where he was able to play more than 33 games, and who else really gets you excited on this team? Luke Kennard coming off a knee injury? Christian Wood? Sekou Doumbouya?

The young players certainly have shown the potential to be serviceable NBA players, but Detroit isn’t exactly a free agent destination and serviceable players aren’t going to cut it.

So when the Pistons are on the clock in the 2020 draft, the decision process should be simple, no matter where they are picking: Look at your board, whoever is on the top is who you pick. The Pistons can’t start looking for needs right now, you take the most talented player and hope they pan out.
