New York Knicks

Biggest need: Playmaking guard

Players to target: LaMelo Ball, Killian Hayes, Tyrese Haliburton

The New York Knicks should probably just take the best player available given the lack of talent currently on their roster from top to bottom, but in a draft this deep with facilitators they’ll have an opportunity to fill a big need.

RJ Barrett had more downs than ups in his rookie season, but it’s unfair to judge him too harshly given the situation he was in as the only guard who can create a shot. He was asked to do too much and if they can find a long term backcourt running mate for him it will be a solid step towards unlocking his full potential offensively.

The projections for Killian Hayes have been all over the top 10 but if he’s on the board for the Knicks I think he makes a lot of sense next to Barrett. Hayes is a big guard who shows the potential to be an excellent passer and can shoot well enough to play off the ball when Barrett is running the offense.
