NBA Rumors: According to a report, the 2019-20 NBA season could resume at Walt Disney World with the games starting in mid-July.

Over the last couple of weeks, there have been encouraging developments regarding the possibility of the NBA resuming and concluding the 2019-20 season. Even though it likely won’t look anything like a normal conclusion to the season, the fact that we could even crown a champion after more than a two-month hiatus (due to a worldwide pandemic) would be considered a huge victory.

While there are still plenty of steps that need to be taken before there’s even a clear return date, the fact that the dialogue is continuing to leak through the grapevine is great news.

The most recent report, via The Athletic, also happens to be the encouraging news yet – that the NBA is looking at resuming the 2019-20 NBA season at Walt Disney World and could possibly be looking at a mid-July return of games.

A possible return of the season at WDW has been talked about as of late, starting with an article written by Keith Smith over a month ago. Since then, the idea has gained traction and it’s looking more and more like the most plausible scenario should basketball return.

Again, this report should still be taken with a grain of salt. This is by no means a foregone conclusion. There likely has to be some sort of agreement between the players and owners on some level, measuring the possible risk and protocols that will be in place.

Make no mistake, this is good news.

It’s been more than two months since the NBA entered a hiatus amid the pandemic and we could use an ounce of good and encouraging news that we can get. This certainly would qualify.

It’s unknown what exactly would be restarting in WDW, but I’d assume this would be a playoffs-only resumption of the season. Perhaps a play-in tournament for the final few playoff seeds in each conference would work too.

Either way, we could be getting basketball sooner rather than later. That’s great news.
