Looking back at Michael Jordan’s first game back with the Chicago Bulls in 1995

Two famous words would take the NBA world by storm during the spring of 1995. “I’m back.” That’s all that needed to be said when Michael Jordan was ready to return to the Chicago Bulls after nearly two seasons away from the game.

For his first game back, on March 19, 1995, it was the hottest ticket in town. The greatest basketball player of all-time was back in the NBA and would be lacing up against the Indiana Pacers.

Baseball was the break that Michael Jordan needed, but after a 17-month hiatus, it was time for the greatest to make his return to the hardwood. He was ready to take back his throne but needed to shake off the rust first.

It wasn’t pretty early and Jordan finished with 19 points on 7-28 shooting from the field. The Bulls would end up losing by seven points, but that wasn’t important. In fact, it didn’t matter. Because everyone knew that, eventually, Michael Jordan would need some time to get back into basketball shape.

This was considered a “remember where you were” moment in NBA history. Do you remember where you were when Jordan was playing his first game back in 1995? At the time, you couldn’t help but wonder how many more championships the Bulls would win. All in all, it was just a great sight to see Michael back in a Bulls uniform.

It was such an awesome time to be a fan.

We might never ever see another player like Michael Jordan – his desire, drive, determination, and talent was unprecedented. Even though he might’ve been a bit overly tough on his teammates, the results of winning six championships are undeniable.

He may have come back in that game wearing the number 45. However, it would only be a matter of time because he got his number 23 back. Love him, fear him, whatever your opinion is, we will never see Michael Jordan again. He is the greatest basketball player of all-time. And the day he returned to the NBA in 1995 was arguably one of the best days the Association has ever seen.
