Flipping veterans

This where the big splashes are. As great as some players are, eventually organizations know their limits to what they can achieve. The hallmarks of both the current Grizzlies and the Process Sixers is how they started their eras by flipping veterans.

In a way, Mike Connelly and Jrue Holiday are the same players. Great players who will make impacts and make all-star teams but cannot be the face of the franchise. So just as Philly’s process started by trading Jrue Holiday, you can make the case that the process started or these Grizzlies by trading Mike Conley.

By trading Coney, the Grizzles were able to get Grayson Allen who could still develop, and most importantly two first-round picks. The first of those picks became Brandon Clarke who looks to be a piece to this long-term core.
