Pros and cons to restarting the NBA season in a Disney bubble

After nearly three months of an NBA hiatus, the league is expected to officially announce the restart of the 2019-20 season. A formal announcement is expected Thursday and likely by the end of the week.

The resumption of the 2019-20 NBA season is pretty straight-forward. It will include 22 teams (13 Western Conference and 9 Eastern Conference), eight regular-season games to decide seeding, and then a possible play-in tournament for the 8th seed in both conferences.

"[via ESPN] The play-in tournament will include the No. 8 and No. 9 teams — if the ninth seed finishes the regular season within four games of the eighth, sources said. In that case, the No. 8 seed enters a double-elimination tournament, and the No. 9 seed a single-elimination tournament, sources said."

Teams will begin working out at team facilities and then make their way into the bubble in Orlando on Disney property. The season is expected to be concluded by early-October which will be followed by the draft and free agency.

Now that the resumption of the 2019-20 NBA season is a reality, we explore six pros and cons to what’s to come in the next few months.

(Note: There’s still plenty of details that need to be sorted out and the outline is subject to change.)
