Con No. 1 to picking up NBA season at Disney World: The early schedule could prove to be a disadvantage

Considering that the NBA will likely try and play as many games as possible, and that could leave some teams at a disadvantage when the playoffs officially begin (after the eight regular-season games). How will they determine which teams must play the early games? Will it be based on potential TV ratings?

Assuming that’s the way it will likely be done (that’s how it has been done in the past), there are will, unfortunately, be a few teams that will be at somewhat of a disadvantage. Having to play early games is simply not fair. Not only are routines changed, but these players simply aren’t used to playing in such circumstances.

I know the easy rebuttal is “well they’re getting paid millions, why can’t they play earlier in the day?” And perhaps you have a point there. But, if we really want to see the best that the NBA has to offer, there’s no question that forcing teams to change routines and breaking habits will have an impact on the on-court product, whether you want to believe it or not.

That’s a fact.
