NBA Rumors: Return to play plan not in jeopardy yet
The recent news of a possible split between the players on the NBA’s return to play idea has to be, at the very least, a bit discouraging. Even after the player’s union voted to ratify the plan on June 5, there has been growing concern about whether following through with the plan is the right course of action.
Kyrie Irving led a conference call a few days ago to raise concerns about the league’s return to play plan and the current events surrounding the nation. It’s important for the players to take a united stance and that’s expected to take place. That’s why these are good conversations to have.
However, at least for the time being, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the league’s return to play plan is not in jeopardy. Yet. Of course, plenty can change over the course of the next few weeks, but there’s still confidence that the resumption of the season will take place.

"ESPN’s reporting with players, agents, the NBPA and league officials over the weekend found no indication that the NBA’s return is in jeopardy — or that there’s even a significant group of players ready to sit out."
NBA still has some concerns moving forward
If nothing else, this should bring a sigh of relief for many fans that are clinging to hopes of the season returning, even in an abbreviated schedule. That said, that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be concerns about the current plan in place.
You can still hope the season returns while also pointing out potential flaws in the return to play idea. Then again, I don’t think the NBA’s return to play idea was in any sense of the imagination a set-in-stone plan.
There are certain tweaks that need to be implemented and there are going to be real concerns about the safety of its players. That will absolutely need to be addressed before the NBA season is resumed.
The players should want to take a united front, and that’s the purpose of the NBA Player’s Association. At least for now, it appears the season is still set to resume July 30.
