Step 3: Pace-and-space

As mentioned before, the Pacers play at one of the slowest paces in the league. Now the Pacers do not need to be top of the league in pace but adding more quickness to their offense will make the team better.

Right now this Pacers team feels like the Raptors during Dwane Casey’s era, lacking that real feel for offense and pacing that the modern NBA loves. Now the Pacers shouldn’t be looking to fire head coach Nate McMillan the way the Raptors did Casey but they need to add more pace to their game.

This can be done by floor spacing and having the Pacers players just make quicker decisions.  Malcolm Brogdon, Doug McDermott, and both the Holiday brothers (Aaron and Justin) are excellent 3-point shooters so the Pacers should encourage them to shoot more and quicker.

Just by using less of the shot clock and taking quicker looks from three, the Indiana Pacers could be a better-placed team, and that normally will translate to a much more efficient offense.

Shooting more will drastically improve where Indiana stands in the 3-point ranks and could make them a real dangerous team in the playoffs with a lot of perimeter defense needed to contain the shooting.
