NBA return to play signings: Joakim Noah to LA; Anthony Tolliver to Memphis
Two return to play signings as the NBA inches closer to their restart
NBA teams are set to ramp up preparation for the league’s restart next month, and that includes teams rounding out their playoff rosters. The reported transaction window is set to open this week, making way for teams to sign players that would be eligible for the restart in Orlando.
Teams will have 17 roster spots at their disposal and can signs players to replace other players that either elect not to play during the restart or are unable to play due to injury.
Two players that have already committed to signing when the league restarts are Joakim Noah and Anthony Tolliver. Both players were in the midst of a 10-day contract when the NBA’s hiatus hit. Now, they’re going to sign the rest of the season deals with their respective teams.

Noah will sign with the LA Clippers for the rest of the season while Tolliver is expected to sign with the Memphis Grizzlies for the stretch run of the season. The Clippers could very much use the depth along its frontcourt and while Noah won’t be asked to play big minutes, if at all, when the league restarts, he will be another valuable player in the locker room.
The same could be said about Tolliver and the Grizzlies. Even if he doesn’t see much run with the team when the restart takes place, he’s a valuable veteran presence that is much needed for such a young roster.
The Clippers are expected to make a deep run in the playoffs and are, by many, considered as the favorites to win the 2020 NBA Championship. At the very least, many expect them to make the Western Conference Finals.
The Grizzlies, on the other hand, hope to make the playoffs but will likely have to prove their worth in the eight seeding games and possibly the play-in tournament.
It’s expected for the transaction wire to heat up this week as teams prepare for the restart. For the most part, it’ll be the expected playoff teams to be amongst the most active.
