Jason Kidd could be in line to interview for New York Knicks’ job

Over the last few days, the New York Knicks head-coaching candidates list has grown to more than 10. And those are just the rumored ones that have leaked through the media. You’d have to think that their internal list could be much bigger.

Recently, Mike Brown, who is currently an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors, was reported to have an interview set with the Knicks. Another big-name candidate that could arise in the next few days is Jason Kidd, who is currently an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to a report, there is internal support for Kidd to, at the very least, be granted an interview by the organization.

The head-coaching candidate list for the New York Knicks continues to grow

As of now, there are more than 10 reported candidates that the Knicks are at least somewhat interested in. Apart from Brown and Kidd, the Knicks have also been linked to assistant coaches Chris Fleming (Chicago), Pat Delany (Orlando). Jamahl Mosley (Dallas), Will Hardy (San Antonio), Becky Hammon (San Antonio), and Ime Udoka (Philadelphia).

That’s on top of the original “favorites” Tom Thibodeau, Kenny Atkinson, and current interim coach Mike Miller.

When it was reported that the Knicks were going to conduct a vast and thorough, I had my doubts. After all, this is the Knicks we are talking about. If there’s one thing we know about the Knicks, it’s that often times (it appears) that they don’t always weigh all options before making an organizational decision.

At least in part, that’s why we’ve seen them make mistake after mistake over the course of their recent history. Nevertheless, at least early on, it appears that they indeed are moving forward with a thorough coaching search.

The New York Knicks have a long way to go before naming a new head coach, and perhaps Tom Thibodeau might still be considered a heavy favorite, but you can’t say they aren’t digging deep early on in their coaching search.
