Big takeaways from the NBA’s restart schedule

Despite the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the state of Florida, the NBA is still moving toward restarting its 2019-20 season in an Orlando/Disney bubble. NBA commissioner Adam Silver held a conference call with reporters and noted how the league is confident in its plan. They also believe it will be safely implemented.

Almost immediately after the call, the NBA released its schedule for the eight “seeding” games that will occur before the playoffs on July 30. The NBA will resume with a double-header on July 30 that will feature the Utah Jazz vs. New Orleans Pelicans followed by a battle between the LA Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers.

While there are a number of sub-storylines that will take place over the course of the next few weeks, one of the major ones will revolve around the release schedule and how it will impact teams either fighting for a playoff spot or better seeding in the games leading up to the start of the playoffs.

Now that the schedule has officially been released, we explore three takeaways from the NBA’s schedule restart. We begin with a team that perhaps the NBA hopes we’ll see plenty more of in the coming weeks.
