NBA prediction No. 5: Zion and the Pelicans will snag the 8th seed…but will be no match for the Lakers

Equipped with the easiest schedule in the NBA amongst teams participating in the restart, and with arguably the most talented unknown (Zion Williamson), the New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most fascinating teams heading into the resumption of play.

The Pelicans were beginning to play swell basketball before the hiatus and were looking like a team that could emerge to overtake the 8th seed in the West. Now, they’ll get their chance at doing so. I believe the Pelicans will come through and snag the 8th seed in the West (sorry, Memphis).

New Orleans simply is the most talented team, from top to bottom. With a fully healthy team, the Pelicans will overpower any team they face – until the playoffs, of course. Facing off against the Lakers in the first round, as expected, the Pelicans will be no match.

However, they will be the feel-good story of the return to action. Who wouldn’t want to see a Zion vs. LeBron playoff series?
