NBA Rumors: Chis Bosh was supposed to be a Chicago Bull
One day, we’re going to get an epic 30 for 30 style documentary on the NBA summer of 2010, highlighted by LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade signing with the Miami Heat. However, there were many teams that believed they were in the race for one of the Big Three.
The Chicago Bulls are one of those teams. According to a recent report, the Bulls thought they were signing Bosh and Wade. Looking back, there was clear traction in that direction in the days leading up to their decision.
Taking it a step further, according to some in the Bulls front office, Bosh actually gave the team a “verbal commitment” during their free-agent meeting. Taking Bosh at his word, Chicago believed that Wade would follow Bosh and make the move from Miami to Chicago.

"“Chris Bosh, according to more than one person in the organization, said ‘I’m coming to play for the Bulls.’ Straight up. He said, ‘I’m coming to play for the Bulls. This is where I’m gonna be.'”"

Another big “what-if” for the Bulls
Of course, that didn’t exactly pan out. Instead of the Bulls landing Bosh and Wade (at least), the trio of big-name stars all signed with the Heat and won two championships while going to four-straight NBA Finals.
It’s another big “what-if” for a franchise that still hasn’t regained championship form since the days of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. There’s no question that had Bosh and Wade joined Chicago in 2010, the entire history of the Bulls changes.
Perhaps they win a championship or two. Perhaps LeBron James follows and perhaps he’s still with the team to this day.
Interestingly enough, this “what-if” comes on the heels of another “what-if” stemming from the summer of 2010, revolving around the New York Knicks. The Knicks were reportedly LeBron’s first choice in 2010, but then the meetings took place and it all changed.
In the end, the Big Three all signed in Miami and the rest is history. Nevertheless, there’s no question that there are probably a ton more stories about this about the summer of 2010. Soon, we’ll hear them all – from all different perspectives.
They’re still not great to hear about, especially if you’re a Chicago or New York fan.
