X-factor: Trey Burke

The Dallas Mavericks will head into the NBA’s restart as one of the most dangerous teams in the Western Conference not residing in the Los Angeles area. If they’re going to make a deep playoff run, they’re going to need help in the backcourt. Adding Trey Burke could open the door for that.

It should be noted that Trey Burke isn’t a player that will have to learn an entirely new system. This is a player that was with the Mavericks not too long ago and actually found success while playing with the team. If he can replicate that in any sense of the imagination, there’s no question that he could potentially add an element to this team’s backcourt.

This is not to say that Burke is going to be a ceiling-changer for the team; it’s tough to predict that for any player, much less one that might not even see the floor in an expanded role. Continuity counts in the NBA and could open the door for Burke to see minutes, if needed, for the Mavericks when the season restarts.
