Three realistic top targets for every team in the NBA Draft Lottery
The NBA is set to restart July 30, with team scrimmages expected to begin July 22. The hope is that the league can get through the season without any further stoppages and the offseason can begin in October.
As it currently stands, the 2020 NBA Draft is slated to take place on October 16. Assuming that remains to be the case, we decided to go team-by-team and pinpoint the three top targets for each lottery team.
Golden State Warriors
3 top targets: LaMelo Ball, James Wiseman, Anthony Edwards
In no particular order, you’d have to think that the Golden State Warriors would target one of these top three prospects. Beginning with LaMelo Ball, who may or may not be at the top of their draft board, he’s a guard that possesses plenty of great attributes – and perhaps, in the mind of some, many that resemble what the team already has in Stephen Curry.
James Wiseman is a big man with a ton of potential. There may even be traits that haven’t been showcased during his short stint in college. He’s one of the biggest risks at the top of the draft but also a player that would ideally fit next to this team’s core. At the same rate, he’s still a bit of a project and I’m not sure the Warriors will be willing to make that type of commitment.
Anthony Edwards might make the most sense for the team. He’s arguably the most NBA-ready prospect at the top and would be able to fit in with this current core and play off-ball if needed. He’s also a player that could be a crucial backup in the backcourt.
If the Warriors remain at the top, they’ll have plenty of options.
