17. Boston Celtics (via Memphis) – Theo Maledon, G, France

The Boston Celtics have three first-round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft, and it’s unlikely that they will make each of those selections. With that said, let’s assume that they’ll keep each of the picks. With the 17th selection, Theo Maledon is a player that could emerge on the Celtics’ radar.

Maledon is somewhat of an unknown prospect, coming out of France, and would be considered a bit of a risk. With that said, the Celtics are a team that could take on that type of draft risk. They’re in a good place in their road to contention and have depth at nearly every position.

There are no bigs that are worthy of being selected here, so Maledon would be a good roll of the dice. Maledon is a natural playmaker that still needs to see his other offensive skills improve in order to fully blossom.

He’s a player that can come in, learn under Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart, and hopefully pay dividends in a few years.
