18. Dallas Mavericks – RJ Hampton, G, New Zealand

With Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, the Dallas Mavericks could actually a bit more creative with the No. 18 selection in the 2020 NBA Draft. They can take a bit of a risk and that’s exactly what they do in our NBA Mock Draft 5.0 by selecting a big-name that has almost become underrated while still being on the board at this point in the draft.

RJ Hampton is a name that almost every NBA fan knows, certainly if you follow top players in the draft. Even though he had a somewhat experience during his time in New Zealand during his first professional year (skipped college), there is still plenty to like about his measurables.

Hampton has great size at 6-foot-5 for a guard and has a natural scoring ability. He wasn’t the most efficient of scorers during his season with the Breakers but surrounded with the right pieces and coaching staff, there’s no question that he could develop into a real nice player. Hampton has star-potential. But he’s going to need some grooming initially.
