5. Minnesota Timberwolves – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa
With the fifth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves would love to come away with a potential third future star to stick next to D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns. At this point in the draft, there are no guarantees. Though LaMelo Ball would be an interesting addition, with him off the board it wouldn’t be surprising for the Wolves to take the next best thing.
Is Tyrese Haliburton that player? Perhaps. After a sensational sophomore season with Iowa State, in which he averaged 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent shooting from 3-point range, Haliburton is a player that could jump up the draft boards in the weeks leading up to the event.
Haliburton is a good all-around guard that would fit next to almost any other player. He could play off Russell or even handle the point guard duties if needed.
