Both Anthony Davis and the Lakers need to win

Eight seasons in, there should be nothing more important than an NBA Championship for Anthony Davis. The seven-time All-Star only has two postseason appearances with no time to waste at this point in his career. With Davis having LeBron James by his side, it’s without question that the Los Angeles Lakers and their fans are expecting Davis to be a key component to a championship season.

New Orleans tried their best to build a championship environment around Davis. But the pieces were never able to come together. The NBA world could tell the frustration that Davis was beginning to have with the New Orleans franchise. And to be honest, who could blame him?

Seven seasons with a team and only two playoff appearances is not enough for a guy of Davis’ caliber. While many stars love to stay with one franchise and grind out the bad years, Davis understood that it was time to go.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

Davis couldn’t have teamed up with any better player than LeBron James. With Davis still in his prime, LeBron has found a priority to make sure Davis is the focal point around the offense. His ability to face his back to the basketball alongside play on the perimeter has put himself as one of the most talented players in the NBA.

Davis has been the x-factor with his 26.1 points per game and 9.3 rebounds. He is the biggest reason for the Lakers’ turnaround this season as they enter their first postseason since 2013. As the playoffs arrive soon, Davis will have to continue to put up solid numbers in order for the Lakers to get by. The Western Conference will definitely give Davis his toughest challenges in order to advance on.

Now, many are concerned about what the Lakers will get out of Davis in the playoffs. Why? Well let’s just say that his game has been rather inconsistent since the NBA’s restart. When Davis is taking around 20 shots per game, the Lakers are unbeatable. But when he is not being assertive on offense, that means trouble for the team. In the last seven games, we have seen a lot of ups and downs from Davis as far as on the offensive end. Hopefully, when the playoffs arrive, he will be locked in on the games.

This is definitely Anthony Davis’ possible best season to win a championship. No one is aware of when Davis’ running mate in LeBron James will slow down. So as for now, Davis has to take advantage of the opportunity of LeBron still playing at a high level.

Also, this is the best team that Davis has played on in his career. It’s not every day that players get to play with guys in Danny Green, Rajon Rondo, JR Smith, and much more. The majority of the Lakers’ role players are either champions or have been in numerous playoff situations and understand how to win. It’s no question that Davis will look to his teammates for motivation to get through the playoffs.

All eyes will be on Davis to shine once the postseason began. Yes, the pressure will be on LeBron to win a championship for the Lakers. But Davis is in need of a championship more than anyone. Despite not having much playoff experience under his belt, Davis will be ready to seek a championship for the Los Angeles Lakers.
