Do nothing?

Brooklyn build this roster by being smart, making the right asset play (trading for D’Angelo Russell at his lowest value) and maximizing those assets (recouping D’Angelo’s value, essentially trading Bojan Bogdanovic for the Caris LeVert pick) and when the players the Nets would need to trade are some of the best role players out there, maybe it’s not worth trading them.

A “third star” is a very subjective phrase. With two guys already under max contracts, trying to find a third guy gets extremely difficult and potentially unnecessary.

If the Nets do get a Beal type, Twitter and social media would go nuts, it’d be awesome. But is that really worth it? Is it worth it giving up a handful of role players for another go-to guy? Would they have to re-sign Jamal Crawford…

The team also has little to no pressure on it. Durant is yet to wear the No. 7 in a game and we’ve all just missed a year of potentially the greatest scorer of all time. The Nets can afford to take it slow, play through to the trade deadline next season, re-evaluate and pull the trigger in February if need be.

Play it out, see what works, and then see if this team needs another “guy.” I think they’ll find that having some guy called Kevin Durant will help.
