13. New Orleans Pelicans – Aaron Nesmith, F, Vanderbilt
After somewhat of a disappointing performance in the NBA’s restart bubble, I wouldn’t be surprised if the New Orleans Pelicans decided to make some big changes during the offseason. That means a veteran player like J.J. Redick (who will be an expiring contract next season) could find his way on the move.
In his absence, it would make sense for the Pelicans to fill his position on the roster with another good 3-point shooter. One potential fit in the draft that could emerge is Aaron Nesmith, who was one of the better shooters in college basketball last season. If he can be a plus defender in the NBA, there’s no question his shooting will be valued even more.
Nesmith averaged 52 percent shooting from 3-point range. It should be noted that he only played in 14 games before an injury cut his season short. During the season prior, Nesmith shot just 34 percent from 3-point range. Something to keep in mind. Perhaps the truth is found somewhere in the middle of those two numbers. If so, that’s still great.
