Four options in play for the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 1 overall draft pick

The Minnesota Timberwolves have earned the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, just the second time in team history that they will select first in the draft – the other time, they landed Karl-Anthony Towns back in 2015. Entering this year’s unprecedented draft, the Wolves will have many options in what many suggest to being a wide-open top of the draft.

Short of the Wolves getting a Bradley Beal type player (who may or may not even be on. the trade block) in return, it would be highly shocking to see the team move the pick. Could they trade down, especially if they like a player that isn’t likely to be taken in the top 3, absolutely? Though, at least for the time being, we must move forward assuming the Wolves will be making a pick when they’re on the clock.

As it stands,  the Wolves have two sure foundational building blocks in D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns. Who would be the best fit next to them? We explore four likely options for the Wolves at No. 1, prospects that largely fit with what the team is building moving forward.
