The reach: James Wiseman, C, Memphis

Even though many would argue that this would be a reach at No. 1, there was an argument to be made before he was ruled ineligible after just a handful of games into his freshman season at Memphis that he should be in play as the first player taken overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. And James Wiseman does add value to the Wolves, who could use a boost in the frontcourt.

The big question is whether Wiseman and Towns could coexist together on the floor. Right now, that difficult to answer. For one, Wiseman would have to be flexible on the defensive end. Towns has struggled on that end of the floor and any player that starts beside him would have to be good-to-elite in order to be labeled as an ideal fit.

That could be Wiseman, we just don’t have enough information on him to make that determination at the moment. Wiseman has all the measurables too. He’s extremely athletic and has good size and length. He’s still considered a raw prospect that will be taken in the top 5 due to his potential and high ceiling.

Is that enough for a team to draft James Wiseman ahead of other prospects that are further along in their development?
