New York Knicks options for 8th pick

Tyrese Haliburton, PG, 6’5, 175 lbs, Iowa State

A mixture of size and great athleticism, Tyrese is my top choice for the Knicks at #8. A stand out star at Iowa State, Haliburton possesses great scoring ability as well as playmaking star power while running the point. The Knicks first need is at PG, undoubtedly, and Haliburton might be their best bet to add to the backcourt with R.J.

Cole Anthony, PG, 6’3, 190 lbs, North Carolina

One of the most highlighted names in this entire draft class is NYC born Cole Anthony. Not only would having the son of a former Knick and New York native be nice, the hype around Anthony spoke for itself when he was coming out of High School.

While injuries plagued his Freshman year on a depleted UNC squad, Cole struggled to score efficiently and has made scouts question his playmaking ability, hence the reason he has fallen far to the end of the Lottery. Regardless, if Haliburton is off the board the Knicks could afford to take a gamble to fill out their need at point guard.

Precious Achiuwa, SF/PF, 6’9, 225 lbs, Memphis

An all-around athletic wing that brings solid scoring and perimeter defense to the table, Precious Achiuwa could be an alternate option at No. 8. Although he’s projected to fall anywhere from 10-20, the Knicks lack a legitimate small forward to match in the frontcourt with Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson.

If they decide not to go point guard at No. 8, a guy with Achiuwa’s talent and size can be a good look for New York.
