NBA Mock Draft 8.0: LaMelo Ball falls to Hornets; Bulls make a splash at No. 4
2. Golden State Warriors – James Wiseman, C, Memphis
The Golden State Warriors shouldn’t overthink this pick. Assuming that they don’t trade it, of course. The Warriors should take the best big and the one with the highest ceiling. That happens to be James Wiseman. Even though there isn’t much college tape on him, his talent and measurables speak for itself.
Wiseman averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks per game during the three contests he appeared in at Memphis and was extremely impressive in doing so. At 7-foot-1, and with supreme athleticism, the sky is the limit for Wiseman. Playing next to Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson would only raise his ceiling as well.
The only question about Wiseman’s game is his consistency and his ability to stretch defenses on the offensive end. If he can prove that he can develop a consistent jump shot, Wiseman could end up being the next generational big man in the NBA.
That’s a big “if,” though.
