NBA Mock Draft 8.0: LaMelo Ball falls to Hornets; Bulls make a splash at No. 4
6. Atlanta Hawks – Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State
Simply put, Tyrese Haliburton is going to be a valuable scorer in the NBA. At least that’s what the early indications are as he enters the NBA Draft. After a successful sophomore season at Iowa State, in which he 16 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, Haliburton has the potential to be a two-way guard that can play in any system.
He should be able to strive next to Trae Young who continued to take the league by storm during his sophomore season in the NBA. What many NBA teams will like most about Haliburton is the fact that he was extremely consistent. He shot 50 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range.
Next to Young, those numbers are going to look even better next season, should the Hawks take him. At 6-foot-5, Haliburton will even out the backcourt for the Hawks (considering that Young is a smaller guard at 6-foot-1).
I’m not sure if there are any surefire contributors in this draft after the top 3 or 4, but Tyrese Haliburton is in that next level of prospects.
