NBA Mock Draft 8.0: LaMelo Ball falls to Hornets; Bulls make a splash at No. 4
7. Detroit Pistons – Killian Hayes, G, France
Headed into the 2020 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons are in a position where they need to address the backcourt, specifically the point guard position if they believe a prospect of their liking is available with the No. 7 pick. Killian Hayes, a point guard out France (American-born), could fit the mold for the Pistons.
Hayes is somewhat of an unknown heading into the draft but has the tools and potential to be a blossoming player in the NBA. At 6-foot-5, Hayes has true point guard tendencies and the biggest hole in his game could be his shooting (which, in today’s NBA, isn’t great). Nevertheless, the hope is that could improve with NBA shooting coaches and more reps.
Hayes is coming off a season in which he averaged 13 points and six assists on 46 percent shooting from the field and 39 percent shooting from 3-point range. Albeit, it was in only 10 games for ratiopharm Ulm but it was a good indication that he was improving as an overall player.
Killian Hayes wouldn’t be forced to be the savior for Detroit but could end up developing into a really good player for them down the line.
