The Brooklyn Nets are going to be a force next season, with or without a trade. This deal puts them on a new level. A healthy Kyrie Irving, a healthy Kevin Durant, and a reinvigorated Bradley Beal? Dear God.
One thing is for certain with this big 3, shooting will not be a problem. The Brooklyn Nets have some nice pieces and the Washington Wizards are in desperate need of a rebuild. This seems like a trade that is the best of both worlds.
The Washington Wizards are in an unenviable place, they are not good enough to be a playoff team but they are also not bad enough to be a high lottery team. Being in the middle is a dark place as there are zero benefits in regards to being mediocre.
If John Wall wasn’t so injury prone, this Wizards team would be a team to be reckoned with, but unfortunately for Wall, his body has betrayed him and it seems he is potentially one more major injury from calling it a day.
It is hard to build a future when one of your cornerstones is so unreliable. It might just be time for the Wizards to make a change.
Bradley Beal, while John Wall has been injured has undoubtedly been the Wizard’s best player and is the only reason why they are the middle of the road team. This trade with the Brooklyn Nets lands the Wizards with not just a Bradley Beal replacement but John Wall insurance too.
Caris LeVert is no Bradley Beal but he is Brad Beal lite. He can do most of what Beal does but not at an elite level, Spencer Dinwiddie is a big point guard who can get you 20 points per game, throw in Jarrett Allen, a center on the come up who can battle with Thomas Bryant for the starting job and the 19th overall pick and you have a well-rounded package that benefits both teams.
Brooklyn gets its third star in the prime of his career who could potentially push the Nets to a title. Washington gets a bunch of assets and if they so choose, have an arsenal of picks and prospects that they could make a run at a higher draft pick. If they stay put a starting 5 when healthy of:
C Bryant/ Allen
PF Hachimura
SF LeVert
SG Dinwiddie
PG Wall
That’s a strong starting 5. For the Nets, there starting 5 would look like:
C DeAndre Jordan
PF Taurean Prince
SF Kevin Durant
SG Bradley Beal
PG Kyrie Irving
A lethal starting 5.
