NBA Mock Draft 9.0: LaMelo Ball falls out of the top 3; Knicks snag Obi Toppin
18. Dallas Mavericks – Aleksej Pokusevski, F/C, Olympiacos Piraeus
There’s quite a bit of unknown when it comes to Aleksej Pokuseveski, but there’s little question that he’ll be taken in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. One potential landing spot has to be the Dallas Mavericks. With the emergence of Luka Doncic and the continued play (and improvement) of Kristaps Porzingis, this is a team that could take a chance on a high-risk, high-reward type player.
Pokusevski stands at 7-foot tall with a 7-foot-3 wingspan. The best part of his game is that he can do a little of everything on the basketball floor. He can shoot, pass, and can create on-ball. That’s not something you see every day from a 7-footer (though we’re seeing it more and more as of late in the NBA).
Could Pokusevski be the next great unicorn in the NBA? Absolutely, though he might need a year or two to develop his raw skills.
