Chris Paul

I know it’s already been reported that the Bucks are “highly unlikely” to pursue a trade for Chris Paul (mostly because of how complicated it could get due to his contract situation) but I can’t help but think how much of a fit he’d be on this roster.

The key to this deal working is finding a third team that would be willing to take on salary (and draft picks as an incentive) to help facilitate a deal between these two teams. Perhaps a team like the Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, or even the Orlando Magic could be willing participants if they’re given a young piece or draft compensation.

After that, the Bucks would have to send out Eric Bledsoe, George Hill, Ersan Ilyasova, Robin Lopez, and Donte DiVincenzo in order to bring in Chris Paul’s contract. If they could find a way to make it happen, I think you make the move.

A trio of Giannis, Khris Middleton, and Chris Paul would make the Bucks the favorites to emerge from the Eastern Conference once again and would give Milwaukee that killer closer that Paul has proven to be at different points over the course of his career.

He could be the primary playmaker and has been one of the best pick-and-roll players for most of his career. He could take the ball-handling pressure off of Middleton and let Giannis play off-ball in the closing moments of games, instead of forcing him into uncomfortable ISO situations.

It could get complicated, but Chris Paul should be close to the top of Milwaukee’s wishlist this offseason.
