4 NBA teams who could target Russell Westbrook

After another disappointing and somewhat early playoff exit, the Houston Rockets will likely be once again interested in shaking up the team’s roster. It’s unlikely that Daryl Morey and the Rockets would trade James Harden unless they plan on pivoting to a complete rebuild. One player that they could move, however, is Russell Westbrook.

Even though his contract (he’s due $85 million over the next two seasons and has a $47 million player option for the 2022-23 season) could make it difficult to find a good deal, he’s still a big name star that more than a few teams in the NBA could be interested in acquiring.

Westbrook will be 32 years old by the time the 2020-21 season begins, but still has a few more strong years remaining in him, you’d think. Coming off a season in which he averaged 27 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists on a career-high 47 percent shooting from the field, there could be a market for the star this summer.

If the Rockets indeed place him on the block, we’ll explore four teams that could be interested in the all-star guard.
