New York Knicks
It would be absolutely surprising to no one to see the New York Knicks jump in a potential sweepstakes for Russell Westbrook. Even more so if the Knicks aren’t able to draft a point guard with their first-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft or get its hands on Chris Paul or if he’s not available during the offseason.
The Knicks are always willing to play ball when there’s a disgruntled star or one that is on the trade block, no matter the circumstance. Westbrook would fall in line for what the Knicks could be looking for. He’s a big name that they could sell to the fanbase and plays a position of great need.
He could come in and help take the offensive pressure off of RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson and help this team make a playoff push in the Eastern Conference, while its young pieces continue to develop.
I don’t think anyone believes Westbrook would be the ideal star for the New York Knicks to target during the offseason, but he could help be a stopgap until the Knicks are truly ready to make a leap in the East.
