3 reasons wny the New York Knicks should pass on Chris Paul

Often times in the NBA, if you aren’t moving forward as a franchise, you’re moving back and falling down the standings. That’s something that has hit all too close to home for the New York Knicks over the last few seasons.

The Knicks, over the last couple of decades, have been known to hunt for the home run too often. Being burned more than a few times due to that tactic, it’s almost become a running joke when it’s reported that the Knicks aren’t interested in any big-name players in the NBA – whether it’s via trade or free agency.

Even when the Knicks have landed the big names over the last decade, they’ve largely missed – see Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire most recently. So when it was reported recently that New York would be interested in a potential trade for Chris Paul, the hesitation is natural.

This is the exact way the Knicks have been burned in the past. Watching it slowly begin to happen all over again can’t be great for a fan base that hasn’t celebrated an NBA title in almost 50 years. While the idea of trading for Chris Paul seems like a good idea on the surface and on paper (especially watching the impact that he had with the Oklahoma City Thunder this season), it’s one that the Knicks should pass on.

Echoing that thought, we explore three reasons why the New York Knicks would be better off passing on Chris Paul this offseason.
